SBI Holdings plans to invest $100 million in Erebor Bank, N.A., a US digital bank that uses blockchain infrastructure to settle payments continuously. Erebor holds a national bank charter from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and has received Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation insurance since February 2026. Its deposits surpassed $7 billion in September 2026, and its co-founders include Owen Rapaport and Palmer Luckey, with Founders Fund and Lux Capital among its investors. The investment will explore the integration of blockchain settlements and stablecoin functions into regulated banking, particularly for the artificial intelligence, defense, energy and robotics sectors. It is part of SBI’s strategy to expand JPYSC, its yen-denominated stablecoin whose related lending balances exceeded 100 billion yen in October 2026, and strengthen its links with US financial infrastructure.
