According to a study by financial management app Plum published for the 2026 back-to-school period, 50% of 18-34 year-old French people want to save money each month starting in September, well ahead of sport and well-being (31%) and personal projects (24%). This drive to take back control follows a costly summer: 61% of young people spent more than 500 euros on vacation, with 33% exceeding the 1,000 euro threshold. Other budgeting habits are emerging, such as cooking more at home (23%), reducing transport costs (21%), or reviewing monthly subscriptions (17%). Founded in 2016 by Victor Trokoudes, a former Wise executive, Plum claims more than 5 million users in Europe and more than 6 billion euros saved through its application.
