Azerbaijani club Sabah FK, founded on September 8, 2017, qualified for the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase on August 25, 2026, becoming the youngest club in the competition’s history to reach this stage at under nine years old. The club progressed through four qualifying rounds, defeating The New Saints (Wales), KuPS (Finland), AGF Aarhus (Denmark), and Hapoel Be’er Sheva (Israel) in the play-off tie. They overturned a 2-1 first-leg deficit by winning the return leg 3-1 in Baku. Sabah becomes only the second Azerbaijani club ever to reach the Champions League league phase, after Qarabağ FK, and will be the second debutant of the 2026/27 edition alongside Italian club Como.
