Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev predicts crypto will dominate prediction markets

Vlad Tenev, CEO of Robinhood, said on CNBC’s Mad Money on September 20 that crypto event contracts are capturing a disproportionate share of trading activity on the platform, and expects them to become the dominant category within years. In Q2 2026, Robinhood traded 13.6 billion event contracts, generating roughly $156 million in revenue. Despite the World Cup driving significant sports-related trading activity, crypto-linked contracts still managed to capture a larger share of overall activity. On September 8, Robinhood announced it had taken minority equity stakes in both Crypto.com and OG.com in a deal valued at $5 billion, intensifying competition with platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket.
