Ripple’s RLUSD reportedly became the first stablecoin to receive an investment-grade credit rating from Moody’s, which assigned it an A2 long-term rating and a P-1 short-term rating. The agency reviewed the credit quality and liquidity of reserves, custody arrangements, regulatory oversight, operational controls and the redemption process, which allows eligible institutional holders to receive funds at par within two full business days after a compliant request. Moody’s also highlighted safeguards including daily reserve monitoring, weekly liquidity stress tests, monthly independent attestations and cybersecurity controls, while noting that RLUSD holders do not directly own the reserve assets and that the issuer is not bankruptcy-remote. The rating came as Ripple expanded RLUSD integrations with Robinhood, Cross River Bank and Standard Chartered, with institutional settlement, payments, cross-border transfers, treasury services, custody and potential use as trading collateral under discussion.
