Ripple XRP Could Lead Bank Payments in 5 Years

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse believes XRP could become a major technology for institutional cryptocurrency payments over the next five years. Ripple plans to use XRP, the RLUSD stablecoin and traditional currencies according to customer needs, without making XRP the only option. The company targets an annualized product revenue run rate of $900 million by the end of 2026, after its products supported more than $16 trillion in transaction activity in 2025. It expects 1% to 3% of comparable activity to move to blockchain networks over the following year, while partnerships with BNY, Robinhood and Coinbase strengthen its institutional presence. Former CTO David Schwartz expects blockchain to become as accessible as the internet, although widespread adoption will depend on regulatory clarity, liquidity and reliable infrastructure.
