Ricardo Pepi injury scare puts USMNT roster plans in doubt

Share

Ricardo Pepi, striker for PSV Eindhoven, left an Eredivisie match against FC Twente after just eight minutes on Sunday, September 20, due to a suspected muscle injury with no prior contact. The 22-year-old American forward, who scored three goals in six league appearances this season, had been named in a 28-player squad by Mauricio Pochettino for four friendly matches: against Peru on September 26, Chile on September 29, Mexico on October 3, and Canada on October 6. No official diagnosis has been released by the club, but the national team staff will monitor his condition over the next 48 to 72 hours. Pepi’s absence adds to that of other forwards like Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun, further complicating the USMNT’s attacking options.
