Qualcomm has renewed its global patent license agreement with Apple, effective April 1, 2027. The deal generates an estimated $8 to $9 in royalties per device shipped. The licensing segment represents roughly 15% of Qualcomm’s total revenue, with disproportionately high profit margins. Despite Apple developing its own modems (C1 and C2 designs in iPhone 18 models), the company still relies on Qualcomm’s vast portfolio of foundational wireless patents covering cellular communication technologies.
