Elon Musk confirmed on October 20, 2026 that independent board committees at both Tesla and SpaceX are reviewing a proposal to merge the two companies. Tesla is valued at approximately $1.5 trillion and SpaceX at around $2 trillion following its IPO, which could result in a combined entity worth approximately $3.5 to $3.6 trillion. SpaceX reported Q3 2026 revenue of $14.6 billion, up 161% year-over-year, with a profit of $4.4 billion. SpaceX’s artificial intelligence segment generated $7.6 billion in third-quarter revenue, an increase of 830% year-over-year. Any deal will require approval from shareholders of both companies, leaving Musk with a potentially conflicting role on both sides of the transaction.
