A scammer running a fake task scheme lost nearly $5 million in bitcoin after his funds were stolen through compromised Ledger devices. According to Chainalysis, this individual had accumulated 60 bitcoins (approximately $4.8 million) by stealing from victims who were tricked into adding their own money to supposedly receive payment. The funds were moved to Ledger addresses on September 22, only to be completely drained by thieves on October 9. Ledger confirmed the attack involved implants installed in devices to steal seed phrases, with Specter estimating total stolen funds at $86 million.
