OpenAI has launched the Daybreak program, a one billion dollar package of subsidized access to its cybersecurity tools over six months. The offer includes two tiers: Blue for code analysis and patch preparation, Red for more sensitive operations with specialized models. The Astra model, capable of discovering unknown vulnerabilities and building exploits, has been classified as critical by OpenAI. Priority beneficiaries include critical infrastructure and open source projects, but no DeFi protocol, exchange, or wallet provider is explicitly targeted. This initiative follows a request from thirty crypto companies, including Coinbase and Block, demanding early access to the most powerful models for security researchers.
