OpenAI has increased the default context length of its GPT-6.1 Sol model from 272,000 to 500,000 tokens. This change took effect on October 11, 2026, less than two weeks after the model’s launch on September 29. The model’s maximum context window reaches 1,050,000 tokens, with 922,000 for inputs and 128,000 for outputs. OpenAI has also eliminated long-context surcharges for subscription users, with API pricing remaining unchanged at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. The model targets ChatGPT Work and Codex users as well as developers via the API.
