OpenAI and CodeAI share AI literacy goals as 84% of students already use the tools

OpenAI and CodeAI, formerly known as Code.org, have announced a partnership to improve artificial intelligence literacy among students. According to the cited data, 84% of students already use AI tools, but only 16% of secondary schools indicate that their students receive formal training on how these technologies actually work. CodeAI has reached over 150 million students across 190 countries and offers free programs like AI Foundations and Hour of AI. OpenAI has positioned itself as a founding partner of the National Academy for AI Instruction, a five-year initiative aiming to train approximately 400,000 K-12 educators in AI skills.
