Entrepreneur Andrew Wilkinson has launched Tokensto.cash, a platform enabling users to sell their unused AI API credits for USDC. Users connect their API key compatible with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Venice or OpenRouter and receive USDC payments on the Base blockchain for each buyer query, with margins ranging from $2 to $12 per million tokens depending on the model. At launch, 373 models were listed, 686,000 queries processed and $2,703 in volume traded over 24 hours. Over $500 million in AI API credits expire annually without being used, according to an estimate reported by getaiperks.com. However, the model raises regulatory concerns, as AI providers generally prohibit API key resale, and converting USDC to bank accounts via peer-to-peer rails raises compliance issues under MiCA in Europe.
