Nym introduced at Devcon 8 in India a software development kit that lets wallets and decentralized applications route network traffic through a five-hop mixnet. The system is designed to conceal IP addresses and timing metadata before transmission, without requiring users to install a separate VPN. Built on open-source Rust components, the kit supports HTTP(S) and gRPC traffic and is already used in production versions of the Zingo and Zkool wallets, as well as in Edge Wallet. Nym says its network operates through more than 700 independent node operators and that its WalletConnect compatibility tests date back to 2023. The approach complements on-chain transaction protections, such as Zcash’s zero-knowledge proofs, which cannot prevent servers from logging users’ network identities.
