Nvidia wants to mobilize 500 billion dollars to finance AI infrastructure by using its GPUs as collateral for loans and leases. The plan relies on partnerships with six major financial firms including BlackRock, Goldman Sachs and KKR, but these lenders remain skeptical about GPUs’ ability to hold their value over the long term. Nvidia offers residual-value guarantees capped at 25% per transaction to reassure partners. As of October 1, 2026, no deal had been finalized and the memorandums of understanding do not constitute binding commitments. Banks are preferring stronger guarantees and investment-grade customer backing over Nvidia’s collateral proposal alone.
