Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has declared that artificial general intelligence is already here for many practical tasks. He made these remarks on the Lex Fridman podcast on March 23 and reiterated them during Nvidia’s Q2 2026 earnings call on August 27. The company plans to deploy over 400,000 AI agents alongside its roughly 40,000 human employees, covering engineering, operations, and business functions. Nvidia has also discussed GPU deployments exceeding 1.5 million chips per generation, powering facilities it calls AI factories. This definition of AGI puts Huang at odds with OpenAI, which maintains a more formal definition based on outperforming humans across a majority of economically valuable tasks.
