Nabla Bio, a Massachusetts-based biotech startup backed by OpenAI, has developed the JAM-2 model capable of generating antibody drug candidates against 26 different targets. Nearly half of these candidates achieved picomolar to single-digit nanomolar affinities, and over 50% met developability criteria without additional optimization. The company expanded its partnership with Takeda in October 2025, with upfront payments in the double-digit millions and potential milestone payments exceeding one billion dollars. Nabla Bio expects to generate first-in-human data within one to two years. Chai Discovery, another OpenAI-backed player in the sector, reached a valuation of 3.8 billion dollars during a Series C funding round.
