CNBC host Jim Cramer announced he is selling his Bitcoin over fears of quantum computing. During an interview with IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, the latter said it would take « three or four years » before becoming « rather paranoid » about it, and Cramer did not wait to sell. Bitcoin rose about 1.6% on the day of the announcement, with crypto traders benefiting from the « inverse Cramer » trade, a pattern of doing the opposite of his recommendations. The CNBC host previously sold at the bottom in December 2022 when Bitcoin was trading around $16,800, and the cryptocurrency then surged over 400% in the following three years.
