MSCI has approved new rules allowing the removal from indexes of companies that resemble investment vehicles more than operating businesses. MicroStrategy, renamed Strategy, could lose its place in major global stock indexes under these new rules. This decision could force investment funds to sell their shares, even if they still believe in the company. An earlier simulation had already identified Strategy among the companies concerned.
