Meta has reclaimed $25 million from its midterm election spending operation. The bulk of the refund, $22 million, came from the American Technology Excellence Project (ATEP), a super PAC Meta created to support candidates favorable to artificial intelligence. Meta had originally contributed $45 million to ATEP, meaning nearly half has been returned. ATEP had only spent approximately $329,000 by the end of 2025, primarily on polling, consulting, and legal work. Meta’s broader political strategy for the 2026 cycle includes a $65 million budget distributed across four super PACs targeting state-level candidates who support AI infrastructure development.
