Meta Muse and OpenAI Dots are giving AMD and Intel new life after years of Nvidia and its GPUs dominating the artificial intelligence market. Central processing units are making a comeback to power long-running autonomous agents, at the expense of GPUs now reserved for inference. AMD surged 32% and Intel 21% in the past month, putting AMD in the trillion-dollar market cap club. AMD’s data center revenue more than doubled to $6.7 billion in the second quarter, accounting for nearly 60% of total sales. Morgan Stanley estimates Muse could account for 20% of AMD’s chip sales in 2026.
