Brazilian platform Mercado Bitcoin will restore customer account access on Monday following a hack that resulted in the theft of more than $46 million in assets. Customers will initially be able to review their balances, statements, holdings and investments, while transfers, withdrawals and trading will remain suspended. The reopening will take place in phases after independent security testing. More than $15 million in stolen funds have already been frozen with industry assistance, and the platform will use its own resources to replenish the assets affected. To support its operations, Mercado Bitcoin also benefits from a $20 million investment by stablecoin issuer Tether.
