The Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and the Bank of Thailand (BOT) joined BLOOM on Friday, a Singapore-based cross-border settlement initiative launched in October 2025. They became institutional members alongside the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), which also added nine participants, including Mastercard, Visa, Ripple and the World Bank Group. The roster now counts 24 industry members, ranging from Circle and Coinbase to DBS, J.P. Morgan and Standard Chartered. Participants will work on cross-border acceptance and settlement of digital money, network interoperability and programmable controls such as identity verification, sanctions screening and transaction limits. Maybank is leading one of three Malaysian pilots testing ringgit stablecoins and tokenized deposits, while the BNM plans to issue clearer guidance on both instruments by the end of 2026.
