Liquid Network hacker returns 3,400 Bitcoin, keeps 15% of haul

A self-claimed white-hat hacker returned 3,400 BTC, worth approximately $268 million, to the Liquid Federation wallet on Monday. Approximately 600 BTC, representing 15% of the total, remains held by the hacker, with no public agreement announced. The September 6 attack exploited a bug in Elements, the Bitcoin Core fork used by Liquid, which allowed the creation of unbacked L-BTC tokens. Liquid Network has yet to resume operations, with L-BTC deposits and withdrawals still halted, while other Liquid-issued assets and Bitcoin’s underlying network continue to operate normally.
