Lighter’s LIT token rose more than 15% on October 21, 2026, reaching approximately $3.90 after the company announced plans to apply for a derivatives license from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in November 2026. Founded by Vladimir Novakovski, the company has been in discussions with the US regulator for more than 11 months and aims to become the first decentralized perpetual futures exchange to receive CFTC approval. Such authorization could open Lighter to US institutions and provide the foundation for a dedicated US operating entity. The integration with Robinhood Chain, launched on July 1, 2026, includes a 50/50 revenue split and has already routed millions of dollars in trading volume through the platform. Lighter also raised $68 million in November 2025 at a $1.5 billion valuation, while protocol revenues fund quarterly LIT buybacks and burns.
