A16z crypto has released Lattice Jolt, an upgraded version of its open-source zero-knowledge virtual machine. This upgrade replaces elliptic-curve cryptography with a lattice-based architecture, making the system resistant to attacks from quantum computers. Proving times are now 2 to 3 times faster, with proof sizes between 65 and 80 KB and memory usage cut in half. Akita is the new polynomial commitment scheme developed jointly by LayerZero, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Southern California, aligned with NIST post-quantum standards at 128-bit security. Initial integration is with the Zero blockchain, with no token announcement.
