Korea Blockchain Week 2026 took place from September 29 to October 1 in Seoul, with the central theme being the agentic economy, a world where autonomous software agents buy services, pay for data and settle bills between machines. Michael Heinrich, CEO of 0G Labs, delivered a keynote on September 30 arguing that current Layer 1 blockchains, designed for financial transactions, do not natively provide what AI agents need: machine-native identity, verifiable computation, high-capacity storage and high-volume automated settlement. The x402 protocol processed over 200 million machine-to-machine transactions in the first half of 2026, proving this type of exchange already exists at scale. In Korea, the tokenized securities framework will take effect in February 2027, the Project Hangang CBDC pilot is underway, and won-denominated stablecoins are subject to ongoing regulatory debates.
