ZachXBT, a cryptocurrency investigator, posed as a scammer on Telegram to infiltrate a Chinese crew accused of laundering most of the $1.5 billion stolen from Bybit on behalf of North Korea. In return, the launderer provided him with updates on Kim Jong-un, dinner photos, and even a mahjong invitation. The investigator spent $349,700 of his own money to carry out this infiltration operation. The information gathered helped freeze funds and attribute the financial flows linked to the Bybit hack.
