TypeSafe AI’s Jev model, launched on September 15, attracted so much developer interest that it overloaded its own API upon launch. Jev processes requests in 70 to 500 milliseconds at a cost of $0.042 per million input tokens with free outputs, making it 5 to 18 times faster and 10 to 20 times cheaper than some major models for classification tasks. Founded in 2024 by Diogo Almeida, a former OpenAI contributor on ChatGPT and GPT-4, alongside Erik Gafni and Sasha Sheng, the company raised $40 million in seed funding from deep-tech venture capital firm DCVC. The model uses synthetic data and the RLCD method to produce deterministic outputs with reliable confidence scores, suited for industrial automation.
