India’s Computer Emergency Response Team, CERT-In, warned that AI-assisted attacks against banks, financial institutions and insurance companies are escalating. Cryptocurrency exchanges and digital asset service providers are among the affected sectors, with wallet keys and funds stolen, but no victims or loss amounts were specified. Attackers abused institutions’ cloud services, payment interfaces and testing environments, and returned to targets that had not fully remediated earlier breaches. CERT-In recommends round-the-clock monitoring, verified eradication of intrusions and stronger transaction controls, as well as stronger crypto key protections through offline storage, multi-signature approvals and immediate key rotation when compromise is suspected.
