India has secured approximately $12 billion in investment commitments for its Semicon 2.0 initiative, the second phase of a national push to become a major player in global chip manufacturing. The program carries a government outlay of about $15 billion and covers the full semiconductor value chain from fabrication to chip design and R&D. Applied Materials pledged $5 billion while Lam Research committed around $1.2 billion. Officials expect roughly $48 billion in total investments over the program’s lifecycle, with $24 billion from production activities and $12 billion generated through exports.
