Illuvium’s team has agreed to another round of wage cuts to extend the studio’s operational runway past August 2027. The crypto gaming studio already cut its workforce from a peak of 100-150 to 66 contributors in early 2025, bringing its monthly burn rate down from roughly $900K to $500K. Many team members are taking compensation in ILV tokens instead of cash, betting on the project’s survival. With $132 million in historical funding, Illuvium is betting on its Overworld MMO and Loadout game with ILV staking mechanics to generate meaningful revenue as other blockchain gaming studios like Proof of Play fold around it.
