Google has signed a twenty-year contract with Constellation Energy for 890 megawatts of additional nuclear capacity, achieved through uprating eleven existing reactors. Constellation will invest over 4.3 billion dollars on the PJM grid, which serves 67 million people across Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. First delivery is expected in 2028. Constellation Energy shares surged 12.2% at close, while the VanEck Uranium and Nuclear ETF gained 5.5%. This massive electricity reservation by AI giants intensifies competition with bitcoin miners, who consume 13 to 25 gigawatts continuously worldwide and are gradually shifting toward AI hosting for more predictable revenue streams.
