Hyperliquid’s native token, HYPE, gained more than 2% after the CFTC approved the trading of perpetual futures on individual stocks in the United States. According to the agency, the contracts received the status of security futures under joint CFTC and SEC oversight, allowing them to be traded on dual-registered platforms with the aim of bringing volumes back from offshore cryptocurrency platforms. The decision matches the structure advocated by Hyperliquid, which already controls the largest on-chain market for perpetual contracts on Apple, Nvidia, and Tesla, with daily turnover running into the hundreds of millions of dollars. ICE, the owner of the NYSE and an investor in trade[XYZ], now has a legal basis for launching a regulated US platform built on Hyperliquid technology, while Kraken is preparing a comparable product through Bitnomial. HYPE broke through the $84.90 to $85.30 range, reached a high above $87.40, and then consolidated around $86.83.
