Riot Platforms sold 79% of its bitcoin in the third quarter of 2026, reducing its holdings from 11,380 BTC to 2,418 BTC. Over the first nine months of the year, the company sold 20,264 BTC for approximately $1.5 billion to finance the conversion of its energy infrastructure toward high-performance computing. A 15-year lease covering 910 MW at the Corsicana campus in Texas has an estimated initial contract value of $28 billion and average annual rent of $1.8 billion. The strategy comes as quarterly cryptocurrency mining revenue fell 28% to $116 million, while net profit amounted to $4.03 million. Riot retains 2,418 BTC and $950.2 million in free liquidity, but could sell part of its remaining reserve in the fourth quarter to finance construction in Texas.
