Huawei’s AI chip output projected at 4% of Nvidia’s by 2026

A Council on Foreign Relations analysis estimates that Huawei’s AI compute output will represent only 4% of Nvidia’s in 2026, a share projected to fall to 2% by 2027. Huawei plans to produce approximately 600,000 Ascend 910C chips in 2026, doubling its 2025 output, with estimated revenues of $12 billion. This growth remains negligible on the global stage: Nvidia generated over $130 billion in data center revenue during fiscal year 2025. Domestically, Huawei is expected to capture roughly 50% of China’s AI chip market by 2026, while Nvidia’s share in China drops from 40% in 2025 to 8% in 2026. Huawei remains constrained by its reliance on SMIC, which lacks EUV lithography, and by restrictions on HBM memory supply. No Huawei chip matching the H200’s performance level is expected before late 2027.
