Houthis claim missile attack on Saudi military ship in Red Sea as naval blockade intensifies

The Houthis claimed a missile strike on a Saudi military vessel and four escort ships in the Red Sea, as part of a naval blockade declared in late July. Tankers including the Wafa, Daisy, Encelia, Layla, and NCC Ghazal were among the vessels targeted, with at least six crew members killed aboard the cargo ship Tihamah in a previous incident. These attacks briefly pushed oil prices to $100 per barrel and forced major shipping companies to reassess their Red Sea routes. Iran, which backs the Houthis with weapons and strategic guidance, adds a regional dimension to the conflict, while the United States and European navies may be called upon to intervene.
