Houthis claim attacks on Najran airport, Aramco facilities in Saudi Arabia

Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed drone strikes on Najran Airport and an Aramco facility in southwestern Saudi Arabia on August 20. The Iran-backed movement Ansar Allah also declared a naval blockade against Saudi shipping on July 20, further escalating tensions in the region. Saudi officials have not confirmed the attacks or acknowledged any damage, though previous strikes on Najran province reportedly wounded 11 people. The group has also targeted Saudi-linked vessels and oil infrastructure in the Jizan and Yanbu regions. The most infamous precedent remains the September 2019 attack on Aramco’s Abqaiq and Khurais facilities, which temporarily knocked out roughly half of Saudi oil production and sent global crude prices spiking.
