Cake Wallet’s chief operating officer Seth for Privacy warned about privacy mistakes when using bitcoin during the Bitcoin Rails podcast. He explained that mixing non-KYC bitcoins with KYC-verified bitcoins in a single transaction immediately exposes the user’s identity and compromises years of discreet activity. The UTXO system used by bitcoin wallets can automatically combine multiple unspent outputs without the user’s knowledge. Seth added that Western citizens will need to feel the consequences of surveillance to understand the importance of privacy, although attitudes have been shifting over the past five to six years. Cake Wallet integrated Bitcoin’s Lightning Network this year to offer a faster, cheaper, and more private solution than bitcoin’s main chain.
