Google tests new Projects implementation on Gemini Desktop app with NotebookLM integration

Share

Google is rolling out a feature called Notebooks for its Gemini application, transforming scattered conversations into structured workspaces. This functionality, originally tested under the name Projects in late 2025, now includes bidirectional integration with NotebookLM, enabling real-time synchronization between the two platforms. The rollout began on April 8 for paid subscribers before expanding to free users on April 17. Ultra subscribers can manage up to 600 sources per notebook, compared to 50 for free users. This release positions Google against OpenAI and Anthropic in the battle for AI-powered organizational tools.
