Gold prices fell by over 6% in September 2024. China’s central bank purchased 740,000 ounces of gold that month, its largest monthly acquisition since October 2023. It raised its reserves to 77.47 million fine troy ounces from 76.73 million in August. This marked the 23rd consecutive month of purchases by the People’s Bank of China.
