Germany has emerged as Europe’s leading cryptocurrency adoption hub, with 89 authorized digital asset service providers representing 25.5% of the total European Securities and Markets Authority register under MiCA. A CoinShares survey conducted in June 2026 among 261 wealth management professionals found that 52% of UK financial advisers were unaware of more than half of their clients’ digital asset holdings, compared to just 25% across Europe. Deutsche Bank is expected to receive regulatory approval for crypto custody services by October 2026, while Landesbank Baden-Württemberg already launched such services in April 2024 through a partnership with Bitpanda. The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority only recently lifted its ban on retail crypto-related exchange-traded products that had been in place since January 2021.
