Four Gemini 4 Argon AI agents developed by Google DeepMind defeated Minecraft’s Ender Dragon in 27 hours and 14 minutes, after 605 deaths and without human intervention. The agents wrote and executed 2,783 JavaScript programs, exchanged 229 messages and generated approximately 63,313 lines of code to complete the task. The experiment required approximately 1.35 billion input tokens and 16 million output tokens, costing an estimated $520 at introductory API pricing. Researchers believe this demonstration of autonomous coordination across thousands of interdependent tasks opens perspectives for software engineering and enterprise workflows. However, they acknowledge that results obtained in a controlled environment do not guarantee direct transfer to real-world contexts, which are less predictable.
