Firmus Technologies seeks $10B financing for Nvidia chips

Australian AI infrastructure firm Firmus Technologies, which originated as a Bitcoin mining operation in Tasmania, has secured a $10 billion debt facility arranged by Blackstone and Coatue to fund its expansion into AI data centers. The company plans to deploy up to 170,000 Nvidia GPUs at its new campus in Batam, Indonesia, with a go-live target set for Q1 2027. This campus is the flagship project of Project Southgate, aiming for a total capacity of 1.6 gigawatts by 2028. The eight-year partnership with Nvidia includes a revenue-sharing model, with projected revenues of $25 billion to $30 billion from the Indonesia facility over the first six years of operation.
