Fed up with AI interviews, some job seekers are dropping out as candidates and blacklisting companies from consideration

Nearly four out of ten U.S. job seekers have withdrawn from a hiring process after encountering an AI-conducted interview, according to an April Greenhouse survey. While 70% of hiring managers believe AI helps them make faster and better decisions, only 8% of candidates share that view. Criticisms focus on the impersonal nature of these automated interviews, the lack of real-time feedback and recurring technical issues. Two-thirds of recruiters plan to increase their use of AI for pre-screening interviews this year, according to a January LinkedIn survey of over 6,500 HR professionals. Vulnerable individuals, such as candidates with visual impairments, also report that eye-tracking software fails to accommodate their specific needs.
