Amir Salek, who spent nearly a decade leading Google’s custom silicon organization from 2013 to 2022, is joining Anthropic’s compute team, the maker of Claude. His arrival brings considerable chip design expertise, acquired notably during the development and scaling of Google’s Tensor Processing Units (TPUs). This hire comes as compute infrastructure has become the central bottleneck in the race toward more powerful AI systems. After leaving Google, Salek had joined Cerberus Capital Management as Senior Managing Director, pivoting to deep tech investments on the capital side.
