CCP Games announced on October 8, 2025 that EVE Frontier would migrate to the Sui Layer-1 blockchain, abandoning its previous Ethereum Layer-2 infrastructure built on Redstone and MUD. The game will benefit from 400-millisecond transaction finality, parallel transaction processing, and infrastructure-sponsored gas fees, eliminating costs for players. This migration provides an architecture suited to the game’s ambitious goal of supporting up to 100,000 star systems. The testnet deployed in March 2026 alongside a hackathon that drew 123 submissions. The ecosystem will include an on-chain EVE Token distinct from the in-game LUX currency, with over 11,000 character creations recorded during testing phases.
