Ethereum’s zkAPI brings privacy-preserving API payments to mainnet

Ethereum has launched zkAPI on its mainnet, a system built with the Open Anonymity Project that allows users to pay for AI and API services without revealing their billing identity. Users deposit funds into an Ethereum vault and use zero-knowledge proofs to prove they have sufficient credit without exposing their deposits. The project has released a local client, a software development kit and a browser-based AI chat implementation. The launch follows a February proposal by researcher Davide Crapis and co-founder Vitalik Buterin, but the system does not hide prompt contents or network metadata.
