Ethereum’s EIP-7906 proposal, still a draft as of October 9, 2025, aims to add safety checks to transactions by inspecting their results and reverting those that violate predefined rules. However, the proposal does not mandate these checks or restrict the minimum values that transaction builders can choose. A malicious builder could set a very permissive floor that lets through unacceptable financial outcomes for the user, with protection only as strong as the chosen policy. On failure, the transaction reverts but the consumed gas fees remain charged to the payer. An effective implementation would require the wallet to know and approve the chosen threshold before signing, while preventing the builder from weakening it.
